SEVEN REASONS FOR IMPROVING INSULATION WITH THE HELP OF ROCKWOOL PRODUCTS

Seven reasons to improve insulation with the help of ROCKWOOL products

In many homes, energy is wasted unnecessarily because they are not insulated in accordance with the latest standards. This means that they can be uncomfortable to live in and have a higher cost of heating in winter and cooling in summer. With energy-efficient technology widely available today, homeowners who properly insulate their homes can save up to 70 percent of the energy used to heat or cool their homes, reducing housing costs and creating a more comfortable space and even increasing the value of their property. In today's blog, find out what are the 7 reasons for improving insulation and which ROCKWOOL solutions we recommend for installing or upgrading insulation.
Seven reasons to improve home insulation
1. Savings: Less energy, money and CO2 emissions
2. Fire safety: ROCKWOOL stone wool insulation is not flammable, so it will help protect you and your property in the event of a fire.
3. Aesthetics: External insulation can improve the appearance of your home
4. More space: Furniture can be placed against the walls without fear of mold and fungus
5. Comfort: The indoor climate of your home remains comfortable all year round, with warmer walls and floors.
6. Peace and quiet: Insulation can reduce noise coming from outside
7. Service life: Longer service life of the load-bearing structure of the building: a house that is insulated from the outside is less prone to expansion due to temperature differences, moisture and damage from mold.
Rockwool offers different solutions for improving home insulation, and below you can find out their characteristics and advantages.

ROCKWOOL Steprock – C
Steprock - C panels are used for the construction of floating floors in residential and commercial spaces. They are installed under cement screeds or similar wet screeds.
ROCKWOOL Multirock
ROCKWOOL Multirock is used as heat, sound and fireproof insulation in light prefab partition walls made of plasterboard panels, in the insulation of attics, suspended ceilings and insulation of walls from the inside.

Two-layer stone wool panels

Rockwool the only one on the market to offer two-layer stone wool panels; the outer layer of higher density ensures better mechanical characteristics, while the lower layer of lower density improves thermal insulation properties. ROCKWOOL double-layer insulation panels therefore meet all key criteria even in smaller thicknesses compared to standard panels:

  • fire protection
  • economical installation
  • excellent heat and sound insulation
  • greater mechanical resistance, and thus the longevity of the facade or roof

The elastic inner layer adapts to the substrate, and due to its strength and load-bearing capacity, the panels can also be used in thick-layer facade systems. The outer (upper) layer of high density is specially marked and should always face outwards.

ROCKWOOL Frontrock Max Plus

Frontrock MAX PLUS insulating panels with two layers of density are recommended due to the greater impact resistance of the facade system and for facades that are more exposed to mechanical damage (around schools, playgrounds, etc.). Double-layer panels are recommended for installation on thin-layer and thick-layer facade systems of multi-apartment buildings and family houses, and for insulating the soffit above the outdoor space as well as above unheated garages. Stone wool insulation boards are fixed by gluing and mechanical fasteners on the board. A layer of glue and finishing plaster is applied over them.

ROCKWOOL Durock Extra

ROCKWOOL Durock Extra are insulating panels made of stone wool with two layers of density for thermal, sound and fireproof insulation of pitched roofs. Durock Extra panels are recommended for insulation of pitched roofs above the load-bearing roof structure. Durock Extra is used when the mechanical characteristics are equally important as the thermal conductivity of the insulation boards.

ROCKWOOL Monrock Energy Plus

ROCKWOOL Monrock Energy PLUS are double-density stone wool insulation boards for heat, sound and fire insulation of pitched roofs. Monrock Energy PLUS panels are recommended for insulation of pitched roofs above the load-bearing roof structure. Monrock Energy PLUS stands out in terms of thermal characteristics thanks to thermal conductivity λD = 0.036 W/(mK).

PROPERTIES OF ROCKWOOL INSULATION PRODUCTS

  • non-combustible material - reactions to fire A1
  • they contribute to the sound insulating power of the wall construction thanks to the fibrous structure of stone wool
  • excellent thermal insulation properties - low value of thermal conductivity (λ)
  • vapor permeability
  • water repellency
  • dimensional stability
  • chemical neutrality

Insufficiently warm houses are associated with various health risks for young people. It was found that 28% of young people who live in cold houses are subjected to this risk, in contrast to 4% of young people who have always lived in warm houses. This problem can be alleviated by energy renovation using solutions ROCKWOOL Group.

You can find ROCKWOOL insulation products in the Termodinamika range in the sales centers Zagreb and Split.
