Custom-made facade with Maxima products
In the last blog, we showed you the restoration of an outdated and damaged facade using exclusively Maxima products, and today we will show you the process of making the facade of a newly built family house. For the creation of a modern and functional facade, Maxima products were used, and the entire process, as well as the description of the product, is presented below.
Step 1: Installation of insulating material
The initial step when applying the facade is the installation of insulating material, which is extremely important. During the construction of the family house, it was used Maxima STIROMOL® Thermo -one-component, elastic, dry type of construction adhesive, made of hydraulic and synthetic binders with the addition of additives. It is intended for gluing styrofoam on all types of mineral substrates, as well as for the reinforcing layer on EPS boards.
How to use?
STIROMOL Thermo of 25 kg, add to 6-6.5 l of water and mix until a homogeneous mass without lumps is formed. Wait for 10 minutes, then mix intensively again. The mass prepared in this way is ready for installation and must be used within 2 hours. STIROMOL Thermo apply to thermal insulation boards along the edge and in 3 to 6 points in the middle of the board (glue coverage min. 40%), then stick them to a solid and clean surface by pressing. After 2-3 days, we recommend felting (6 pcs/m²) on the glued thermal insulation boards.
Step 2: Reinforcement and installation of the mesh
When reinforcing and laying the mesh, products were used STIROMOL Elastic te MAXITHERM Glass Fiber Mesh 145 g/m2. STIROMOL Elastic is a one-component, highly elastic, dry type of construction adhesive, made of hydraulic and synthetic binders, with the addition of special additives. It is intended for gluing and reinforcing thermal insulation panels: Styrofoam, graphite Styrofoam, Styrodur and stone wool, on all types of mineral substrates.
How to use STIROMOL Elastic?
STIROMOL Elastic of 25 kg, add to 6-6.5 l of water and mix until a homogeneous mass without lumps is formed. Wait for 10 minutes, then mix intensively again. The mass prepared in this way is ready for installation and must be used within 2 hours. Apply STIROMOL Elastic to thermal insulation boards along the edge and in 3-6 points in the middle of the board (coverage with adhesive min. 40%). Apply glue to the stone wool panels over the entire surface, using a notched trowel. Press the panels onto a solid and clean surface. After 2-3 days, we recommend felting (6 pcs/m²) on the glued thermal insulation boards. Place the reinforcing mesh by pressing into the layer of applied STIROMOL Elastic, in a thickness of 2-3mm, with an overlap of 10cm, and then level the entire surface with STIROMOL Elastic. The total thickness of the applied STIROMOL Elastic should be min. 4 mm.
Step 3: Applying the base
Before applying the final layer of the facade, it is mandatory to apply a primer. It was used when installing the facade of the mentioned family house ROLOGRUND® SN. ROLOGRUND SN is a rough silicone primer, micro-reinforced with synthetic fibers and filled with quartz sand. It is used for priming mineral surfaces, before applying silicone decorative plasters.
How to use?
The surface must be: dry, load-bearing, free of dust, grease, worn-out parts and old coatings. ROLOGRUND SN should be tinted to the approximate shade of the finishing plaster. Apply ROLOGRUND SN with a roller or brush, in one layer, and it can be diluted with water up to 10%. Drying time, under optimal conditions, is min. 12 o'clock. After use, wash the tool immediately with water.
Step 4: Application of silicone decorative plaster
In order to finally get the facade we envisioned, it is necessary to apply silicone decorative plaster ROLOSIL® SN. ROLOSIL SN is a high-quality, decorative silicone-based plaster. It is characterized by high strength and good vapor permeability. It is intended for the protection and decoration of external and internal mineral wall surfaces. It is the final layer when making thermal insulation facades. It is produced in white color, and can be tinted on the MAXMIX system, in shades marked with F.
How to use?
The surface must be: flat, dry, clean, without weakly attached parts, dust, water-soluble salts, grease and other impurities that can prevent good adhesion to the substrate. Dry plastered surfaces for 28 days, and the final layer of reinforcement glue for 7 days. Before application, it is mandatory to prime the surface ROLOGRUND SN with a rough silicone primer, tinted to the approximate shade of the finishing plaster. Apply with a steel or plastic trowel, and finish with a plastic flat trowel. After use, wash the tool immediately with water.
